This entire area is 3,000 to 5,000 feet above sea level and sits like a crown. It is on the east of a desert that has a bright sun in the day and cool nights. This makes it a great spot for g

Surge in Plastic Surgery During Pandemic Lockdown - Here's Why

Image
A report by Allure.com says that cosmetic surgeries across the nation have risen in numbers in the past year. States like Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and New York are where this has become very prominent. The reasons are still unclear, so we can just conjecture. Addressing this observation, John L. Burns, the president of Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute said: “When COVID hit, we all had to shut down. We reopened in March of last year, but we were shut down for elective surgeries because of the mandate for about eight weeks. Coming back from COVID, we were very concerned about our business, obviously, in the middle of a pandemic. What surprised everybody that I know was the volume of interested patients in cosmetic surgery — and nonsurgical things, like Botox and fillers and skincare and lasers — just came back like a force.” Burns first thought the spike in cases opting for plastic surgery was from a backlog build-up with anxious clients after the two-month lockdown in North Tex

If you are looking for a quick bite in Dallas, then BBQ King is one of the places to go. It first opened in Richardson, and in 2018, moved to Garland. Credit: Dallas Observer In 2019, a report mentioned BBQ King as one of DFW's top Pakistani food destinations . It has ever since been one of the most interesting restaurants to go to. Hearing so much about it, I finally decided to try it and write about it. Mouthwatering Pakistani Cuisine Credit: Dallas Observer They make a wild burger and have probably the best naan you may find in this area. They serve it stuffed with potatoes, spiced up, mixed with sauces, and cilantro with sesame seeds. They also have the traditional Pakistani cuisine Haleem, which is a porridge-like meal. The ingredients are lentils, ground meat, wheat, butter (ghee), and fried onions, and ginger garnish. It is something I liked, and I recommend it. Recommendation My best pick here is the "Kunna Gosht," a recipe made with goat leg; somewhat of

As of 6 August, there are reports of at least 830 new coronavirus cases reported in Dallas County, and there are only 25 ICU beds available. The overall reported cases across Tarrant and Dallas counties are more than 600,000; sadly, the death toll reported is 4224. In Tarrant County, reportedly there are as many as 929 new cases. These numbers justify pushing for reporting it as a pandemic and requiring the government to take necessary measures. As the delta virus variant affects an increasing number of people, the County Judge – Clay Jenkins insisted that residents do three things: 1 – Getting vaccinated 2 – Wearing masks in public areas or when outside the home for any reason i.e. maintain SOPs and social distancing 3 – Persuade others to get the vaccination He said, “The enemy in the battle against COVID is the virus itself and not each other.” On a daily basis, in the past two weeks, the number has been 766. In the fourteen days before the last two weeks, the numbers wer

Will There Be a Street Named After Santos Rodriguez in Dallas?

Image
Who is Santos Rodriguez? In 1973, he was a twelve-year-old Mexican-American young boy, who was in the front passenger seat of a Dallas police cruiser with his older brother (then thirteen years old) in the backseat. Police picked them up while investigating a case regarding vending machine theft. Credit: Dallas News “You are going to be all right,” brother remembers telling unresponsive Santos. As anyone would expect, the two denied any involvement in the robbery. The case took a turn when one of the cops handling the case, took things too far while trying to coax him to confess. The cop was Darrell Cain, and he shot Rodriquez in the head. Reportedly, Rodriguez died with his last words, “I am telling the truth.” Later, the investigation revealed that the fingerprints did not match either of the two brothers. Credit: Kera News At Oakland Cemetery, recently, people came together to observe the 48 th anniversary of Rodriguez’s murder. His mother, Bessie Rodriguez is now 77. At the serv
